Fascinate – The Future of Broadcasting
Just been reading a little bit about the Fascinate – The Future of Broadcasting project. Some very interesting ideas about the ways in which we will be able to interact with broadcast television.
Project Canvas
Just been looking at the joint venture between the BBC, iTV, C4, Five, BT & Talk Talk called Project Canvas.
The venture’s aim is to ‘to build an open internet-connected TV platform, subject to BBC Trust approval.’
Grey Scale Gorilla
I am writing a presentation for Salford University on thursday and so am going to talk a little bit about Cloud broadcasting. What better example to user than the Gorilla himself GSG . Am going to talk about Ustream and the endless possibilities for producing content ‘by the people for the people’.
How to Stay Productive & Create Great Work
Signal ‘Choices Story’ Scriptwriting Day
Had a brilliant day meeting up with Signal Films and First Take in the ‘Emerging New Media Skills’ advanced course that we have been running. Both the Cumbrian and Liverpool group met up in the morning for a brew to discuss their interactive story ideas. In the afternoon, the Cumbrian group moved to the Hatch’s Elevator studios to develop their ideas and formulate a plan of action. We brainstormed some ideas for the narrative of the story and then set up a structure of ‘Story Arc’ events that will allow the viewer to make choices in affecting the outcome of the story. We are scheduled to shoot all the scenes in one day and then do the edit & post production on the 2nd day. (March 21, 22). Will keep you posted on how it goes….
visual inspiration!
So I don’t think this has been posted already – http://ffffound.com/
It’s an image bookmarking website where you can always find really inspiring creativity of all kinds.
Beware, this website can whip you up into an image/design/font/photography devouring frenzy where you spend hours and hours clicking from one image to the next.
Hope you like!

Links to nice things (testing)
Just throwing a few of my most regularly viewed sites up here to test I’m posting correctly, hopefully get a bit more involved in the week…
Motionographer : It’s unlikely anyone’s not heard of it, updated tons and only features good work
ffffound.com : There’s tons of image blogs but this one’s nice. Photos, design, photos of design, updated several times of day
mograph.net : Online forum populated by some pretty big names in terms of the guys who make tutorials around the net and generally helpful clued up people. If you ask a sensible question in terms of technical/software you’ll get an answer that works, most people there use primarily C4D and AE workflow. Chances are a quick search will solve it and it will have been answered somewhere. There’s also some nice C4D and AE scripts and shortcuts to pick up by looking around a bit.
Cheers, Matt F

Motionographer
Motionographer, as ever, should be any Motion Designer’s or Filmmaker’s first pit stop or port of call when needing a little bit of TLC! Don’t be put off by brilliant portfolios as a lot of the time, it has taken a creative team of eight 4 months to ouput just one project.
