The Learning Lighthouse – Digital Photography & Photoshop Session

I had a brilliant day at the Learning Lighthouse last Thursday where I ran a Digital Photography and Photoshop session for 7-11 yr olds with their parents/ grandfathers and guardians. Each session was only 2hrs long and the children/ adults got through quite a lot and more importantly had a lot of fun learning (then breaking) the rules of Photography. The first part of the session was a practical based learning as the young photographers used digital cameras and we followed the Digital Photography Tips & Tricks Presentation . The group then did an introduction to Photoshop and ‘played’ with making titles and adding filters to their photographs. Here is a gallery of all the final pieces. You don’t have to have Photoshop to edit your photographs, there are lots of free on-line photo-editing software . Well done to all the students now photographers who participated on the course and thanks to the lovely crew at The Learning Lighthouse.

10 Must Have Online Tools for Photographers

Portrait Photography Training Course

Had a lot of fun on Saturday when I did a Portrait Photography training session with my good friend Leila Romaya. Leila is a brilliant photographer and was running a course on Portrait photography which she invited me to. Not only did I learn a lot of tips and techniques but I was able to ask my Sister, brother in law and niece & nephew to have some fun in ‘sitting’ for us. Leila was brilliant with the kids and we got some really excellent photos along the way. (We were using a Canon 5d camera for the shots and lighting with a couple of Bowens 500 on a brilliant white Calumet background.)

Framing & Composition

Loved this video sent through from Matt Frodsham! A post from Videopia on his vimeo site about Framing and Composition….talks about the Rule of 1/3rds in Lay man terms with good Film references!

Art @ Sidcot School

I have been sent this link by the lovely ladies Patsi & April at the Learning Lighthouse CLC in Wallasey! It is a guy called Ross Wallis, art@sidcot school who does some real fun stuff with his photography sessions. I am going to take a look for some inspiration as I will be teaching a session with some young children at the Lighthouse soon.

Graph Paper Press

Just been shown a really cool wordpress template site for film makers or photographers called Graphpaperpress

Some brilliant designs there that allows you to pull your video in from Vimeo.

Whilst I am at it, am not too sure if I have posted about artisteer – absolute class for styling your own wordpress themes and importing your own logos.

14th January 2010 – iphone avec the Lo-Mob app

Am cheating again as the photo of the Choir singing behind Fact was taken before Christmas. However I wanted to show off the Lo-Mob app for the iphone! If you have an iphone and are into photography, you have to get this app! Its a must. This photo is graded with the 35MM Medium format 1 – ‘A Strongly outdated 35mm color film placed in a medium format…’
